Meet Pete, Roo and Maggie too!
Pete Lucas – Owner/Captain
In Pete’s 20+ years as a professional yacht Captain, he has accumulated a wealth of experience – and stories! – running research vessels in the Indian Ocean, skippering superyachts in the Caribbean and crossing big oceans in tiny boats with his young children. Pete started sailing dinghies in the Solent at the age of 9 and now has over 150,000 nautical miles of worldwide sailing experience. He holds an RYA commercially endorsed Ocean Yachtmaster certificate. With his vast knowledge and competence, Pete runs a safe and professional operation, while his humour and attentiveness guarantee an excellent host for your onboard experience.
Pete is also a sitting board member of Save the Med (link here) and is fully committed to conservation work in the Balearics, including operational work in the MPA´s (Marine Protected areas in Mallorca).
Roo Lucas – Owner/Office Manager
Roo’s first Atlantic crossing at age 10 was on a 32-foot sailing boat, with her family. She started working professionally on boats at age 20, after attending Falmouth Art College and has since accumulated 4 Atlantic crossings plus extensive sailing experience in the Indian Ocean, the Caribbean, Scandinavia, the North Sea and the Mediterranean. Roo and Pete spent eight years sailing in the Southern Atlantic and Caribbean, living on their 31′ sailing boat Tandika with their two children, fulfilling a few exceptional adventures such as crossing from South Africa to the Caribbean via St Helena when Chloe was 2 years old and Jago was 6 months old!
Roo has now embraced life ashore, running the office and operations behind the scenes at Bonnie Lass Charters. You will see evidence of her creative touches on board all our boats. Roo is always on standby to help with any queries you may have.
Maggie – Ships’ Dog!
Maggie on instagram: @lifeofmaggiex
Birthdate: 13th August 2010
Breed: Unknown! Heinz 57 / a very lucky mix
Maggie was born on a beautiful rambling old farm on the Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall before moving to Mallorca with us in 2012. She loves children and is an absolute natural on-board boats/dinghies/paddleboards; a real water baby. 🙂
Edouard Cocquerel – Captain of Bonnie Lass
Captain Ed has skippered and travelled on sailing yachts and work boats around the world for over 19 years, working for 9 years as a commercial captain with over 60,000 nautical miles of sailing experience. Ed started sailing at just 5 years old with his father and grandad! He holds a Master of Yachts 200 tonne Captains certificate and is an accomplished dive master. Ed is originally from Bordeaux, France but spent much of his childhood in Canada playing hockey. He and his young family now live full time in the beautiful Sóller Valley.
With his excellent sense of humour (in French, English or Spanish!) and fun-loving attitude, Ed is a conscientious and capable Captain and is looking forward to welcoming you on board soon.
Jake Woodnut – Captain
Having grown up on Alderney in the Channel Islands and sailed back and forth between the Islands and the UK from an early age, Jake has sailing in his blood!
In the summer of 2018 he skippered his Grandfather’s CSY44 ‘Ragtime’ 2000 nautical miles from Alderney to Cartagena; a trip Jake has wanted to do since he was 9 years old.
Jake’s passion for sailing, boats and the sea, combined with his cool-as-a-cucumber attitude makes for a thoroughly enjoyable trip onboard!
Lucie Easton – Crew/Chef
Lucie is relatively new to sailing; Jake twisted her arm to go sailing with him from Alderney to Cartagena last year, a voyage of 2000 nautical miles. She took to boat life like a natural and hasn’t looked back since!
Having spent three years working for chalet companies in Meribel, Lucie is an accomplished chef and experienced in catering for hungry adventurers. In her spare time, Lucie makes stunning bespoke Silver and Seaglass jewellery, some of the seaglass is found right here in Port de Sóller!
Ida Strandlund – Crew/Freediving Instructor
Ida is a world traveller who’s always had a great passion for the ocean. As well as working as a cook and stewardess on superyachts, Ida is a certified freediving instructor. With her great hostessing skills and lifeguarding experience, she loves looking after and guiding our clients in and out of the water. In her spare time, Ida creates art in different mediums, hikes, freedives and adventures around the island or loves to just hang out at home cooking up a storm in the kitchen! Ida speaks her native Swedish, and is fluent in English, Norwegian and Spanish.
